REAL WEDDINGS -ADAM & NIKKI

Happy New Year to everyone. We have much to be thankful for in 2010 and to celebrate, I am so excited to share with you some fabulous shots from Nikki and Adam’s wedding. Nikki wanted everything to be simple but classy and for everyone to have a great time. The bride and groom held their beautiful ceremony at Sherriffmuir gardens which was an absolute vision on the day – just like the bride! This wedding was all about family and friends coming together and having a great time in celebration of the beginning of their marriage. Here is just a small collation of Nikki and Adam’s wedding photos with more available at the Wedding & Event Management Services website gallery.

I was so chuffed to receive a lovely message of thanks from the bride and groom and wanted to share it with you. It is comments like this that make me love what I do!

“…Your professionalism and attention to detail made us feel totally relaxed that you would take care of everything leading up to and on our Wedding Day. Your friendly personality and fantastic rapport with people meant that you were able to liaise with suppliers to produce our exact Wedding Day vision. We received many comments from people saying how beautiful our reception looked. You went that extra mile to ensure our Wedding Day was everything we wanted and the end result was simply breathtaking……….”

It was such a pleasure sharing in your day Nikki and Adam. You guys are amazing and I wish you all the best and many years of wedded bliss.

TRADITIONALLY WHO PAYS FOR WHAT WHEN PLANNING A WEDDING??

A while ago I read this article about who pays for what at a wedding. This advice still does apply when you are planning a traditional wedding but remember there are so many variables – whether you have been living together for a long time and already have a family, if you have been married before, what religion you belong to and what the expectations are, your own financial situation and your parent’s and partner’s financial situations – the list is endless. So only use this as a guide and bear in mind that not everyone sticks to tradition.

‘GO WITH YOUR HEART’—WILD CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY

Professional in the Spotlight – Donna from Wild Creative Photography

The money you spend on your wedding photographer and your wedding photos are one of the most important items of your wedding budget. If you are looking for a wedding photographer for your upcoming wedding, take a look at Wild Creative Photography. Donna has the eye to capture those special moments and believes that it is important to tell the story of a wedding which is where her skills as an accomplished photographer have greatly helped her. Here is an insight into this extremely talented lady…….

How did you get started in photography?

I started out working for Scrapbook Creations Magazine as a regular contributor and photography was a big part of this.  I am a trained teacher with a major in Music and IT so my creativity and computer/internet skills have been there from an early age. My teaching and magazine experience led me to a brief lecturing role at the TAFE college and I spent two and a half years writing photography and Photoshop ‘how to’ articles for various Universal Magazine publications including Scrapbook Creations. My business has been going strong for three and a half years now and is run from my home based studio.

What types of services do you offer your clients?

Family portraiture, weddings, location photography and commercial photography with a candid feel.

How would you describe your photographic style?

I try to take shots from a different perspective. I will go to any length to get a different angle and I like to show relationships through my images. You’ll rarely hear me say “smile” as I like to wait and capture moments that are natural and real.

Wild Creative Photography received a "Highly Commended" Award in The Edge Imaging Photography Excellence Awards for this photo recently.

What is your favourite wedding image?

The truthful answer to this question is that choosing a favourite is really like choosing between my own children – I feel a connection with each set of wedding photos that I take. Every wedding seems to provide me with a new ‘favourite’! However, in saying that, I do particularly love a recent image of a bride and groom before they were heading off into the reception. The bride was making her way back to her groom and I noticed the sunburst appearing between them. It was like all the planets had aligned! I was definitely in the right place at the right time.

One piece of advice for clients or brides-to-be?

Bring with you a list of possible contrasting locations like a garden, urban and rustic setting – preferably something that you have an emotional connection with. It may be where you first met, where the proposal took place, something that reminds you of a special memory.

Also ‘go with your heart’ – don’t be swayed by well meaning friends and family. Don’t change a decision that you have had your heart set on right from the start. Finally choose vendors that you trust and give them the freedom to do what they do best.

FOLLOW THE LIGHT – CREATIVE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Professional in the Spotlight – Tanya from Tanya O’Leary Photography

Welcome to the first of many professional spotlight interviews – Tanya O’Leary would have to be one of the most creative photographers I have worked with in this region. She truly prides herself on capturing the best moments in life! Tanya generously took time out from her busy day recently to chat with me and answer some Q and A about herself and her business. Enjoy!

How did you get started in photography?

Since I was eight years old I remember having a passion for photography.  At the age of nine I won a Kodak photographic competition and it started from there. I started taking photos for friends and the constant demand from then on turned into my business as it is today.

Describe your photographic style?

Definitely natural contemporary – I capture the emotion of the person I am photographing – their inner spirit.

'Capturing the emotion....'
‘Capturing the emotion….’

If you could offer one piece of advice to brides to be what would it be?

Get your makeup done by an artist who offers airbrushing because it gives a stunning flawless look.

What are your favourite locations for wedding photos?

I don’t plan any specific locations – I just follow the light on the day and see where it takes us.  It’s all about the emotion of the couple and that’s what I bring out in my photos and why clients keep coming back.

What steps are you taking within your business to be environmentally responsible?

All my proofs are stored onto my computer, edited and then placed on line.  That way clients only choose the photos that they need and there is no printing waste.
